It’s always a challenge to capture what’s happening while it’s still unfolding.
Our focus remains, as always, on leadership, organisational development, and exploring new ways of working. While we may be biased in how we see things, it’s clear that trends around new ways of working are becoming more mainstream. More and more traditional organisations are now openly discussing the need to transform their cultures and rethink how their leaders lead.
At Tuff, we’re noticing this shift through:
Becoming a little less ‘controversial’ with each passing day.
A growing demand for employee training, signaling a move toward more distributed leadership.
An increasing number of clients committed to creating self-organising workplaces.
Several exciting pilot projects, such as one with Piteå Municipality in Sweden, where we’re helping leaders and teams turn trust-based work theories into tangible reality.
A global movement toward action
Internationally, we’re seeing many signs that organisations are moving from talk to action. For instance:
Bayer, a global giant, has publicly shared its ambition to transition to a less hierarchical way of working with ‘Dynamic Shared Ownership’.
Gallup’s CEO recently emphasised: “What can leaders do today to potentially save the world? Gallup has found one clear answer: Change the way your people are managed.”
Change agents around the world are coming together to work collaboratively on real transformation projects, highlighting the growing demand for experienced experts in this field.
Building New Partnerships and Expanding Reach
This year, Tuff has partnered with Corporate Rebels, offering their extensive self-organising community a tailored Tuff training programme called ‘Self-Management Bootcamp’, which will launch in January.
In Spain, momentum is especially strong. Thanks to the trailblazing efforts of K2K, which has transformed countless companies, the landscape is shifting rapidly. Krisos, a company known for acquiring and transitioning businesses to self-management, is set to purchase its second company following the success of its first transformation. Tuff is proud to support these developments with our training programmes delivered in Spanish.
Additionally, Lisa Gill from Tuff has represented us as a keynote speaker at numerous events this year, including in Mallorca, Ljubljana, and Seville. She also hosted a special event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Frederic Laloux’s seminal book Reinventing Organisations (you can watch the event recording here).
For Those Just Starting the Journey
If this all feels unfamiliar, perhaps you work in a more traditional setting where these ideas are still under the radar. Don’t worry—you’re not behind! This movement is just beginning, and there’s much to gain even if your context isn’t aiming for radical change.
We encourage you to join one of our popular free webinars, Stop Motivating Your Employees, held regularly.
Our training programmes are available in various languages and locations.
In 2025, we’ll also launch our knowledge platform, Bossless, which will feature curated, practical content to help you drive change at work.
In the meantime, you can explore nearly 100 thought-provoking episodes of our podcast, Leadermorphosis.
Watching the world developing in not such a promising way, it is comforting to see the progress in what is happening at workplaces worldwide for the better.
We wish you peaceful holidays with a lot of time to rest and reflect and hope to connect with you in 2025!
